Children’s Book of the Month - new scheme launched - 16 February 2015

‘We’re thrilled to be launching this exciting and new scheme in partnership with the publishers and booksellers of Wales’ said Emma Evans on behalf of the Welsh Books Council. ‘So far, over 50 bookshops have signed up to the scheme – the response from booksellers has been fantastic.’

Cyfrinach Nana Crwca, a Welsh adaption of David Walliams’s best-selling children’s novel  Gangster Granny, will officially reach bookshop shelves this week as the Books Council’s top pick for March.

Published by Atebol, Gruffudd Antur’s witty adaption is set to be a big hit with Welsh school children. Funny and moving,   Cyfrinach Nana Crwca tells the story of a young boy called Ben who’s made to stay at his grandmother’s house. He thinks that Nana Crwca is the most boring grandmother ever, but little does Ben know that doddery old Nana is planning her greatest jewel heist ever!

‘We are absolutely delighted that  Cyfrinach Nana Crwca has been chosen to be Wales’s Children’s Book of the Month for March,’ said Glyn Saunders Jones from Atebol.  ‘We warmly welcome this new scheme, which is the first to focus exclusively on children’s books from Wales; it’s very encouraging news for the industry in terms of supporting children’s book sales.’

Welsh Books Council chief executive Elwyn Jones added:  ‘We hope the scheme will highlight the exceptional quality and variety of books published for children and young adults, and it’s also great to see so many booksellers involved.’

Cyfrinach Nana Crwca  (£6.99) is published by Atebol and is available now at your local bookshop or online:
