New Head of Children's Books Department - 03 October 2012

Angharad Tomos was born in Bangor but spent most of her childhood in the Swansea area and has now settled in Ceredigion. Before joining the Council, Angharad worked for Booktrust in Cardiff.

The Children's Books Department is responsible for a range of activities including book competitions, a book club, awards and prizes as well as services to schools. In addition, Angharad will be responsible for coordinating activities in the field of reading promotion and literacy, including World Book Day in Wales, the Reading Communities, and Quick Reads.

In welcoming Angharad, Phil Davies, Director of Information and Promotions at the Council said, "the work undertaken by the Council in promoting children’s books and literacy is crucial, and we are very pleased to see Angharad joining us to lead the team that is responsible for some of our most important schemes."
