The Welsh Books Council held its final round of the Welsh Books National Competition for primary school children at the Arts Centre, Aberystwyth, on 15 and 16 June 2011.
Standard of the presentations and discussions was exceedingly high, with many schools coming close to winning the prizes.
The prizes were awarded accordingly:
Anwen Tydu Memorial Trophy (given to the school with the best presentation):
Ysgol Gymraeg Treganna a Than yr Eos (Cardiff) - Years 5 a 6.
Ysgol Dyffryn Banw (Powys) - Years 3 a 4.
Dr Dewi Davies Shield (given to the school with the highest marks for discussion and presentation):
Years 5 and 6
1st - Ysgol Sant Curig (Vale of Glamorgan)
2nd - Ysgol Treganna a Than yr Eos (Cardiff)
joint 3rd - Ysgol Santes Tudful (Merthyr Tydfil) / Ysgol Dafydd Llwyd (Powys) / Ysgol Betws Gwerful Goch (Denbighshire)
Years 3 and 4
1st Ysgol y Wern (Cardiff)
joint 2nd - Ysgol Pontardawe (Newport and Port Talbot) / Ysgol Maenclochog (Pembrokeshire)
3rd - Ysgol Dyffryn Banw (Powys)
The adjudicators were Eirlys Eckley and Eirwen Jones (discussions), and Euros Lewis and Annwen Elis Jones (presentations).
