World Book Day is here! - 03 March 2011

Now in its 13th  year and growing each year in Wales, the Welsh Books Council has been encouraging everyone to take part – from library and local education authorities and corporate organisations to the press and media.

The main aim of World Book Day is to encourage people to explore the pleasure gained from books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to take part in various exciting activities. With the help of the Welsh Books Council, it is now a fixed date in the calendar in Wales.

There are many events, activities, workshops and celebrations happening all over Wales at schools, universities, libraries and community centres.

Elwyn Jones, Director of the Welsh Books Council, commented: "World Book Day has become an important date in the diary; we would like to encourage everyone to take part and to join in the festivities."
