General illustration

Any other information

I specialise in illustration/image making using a stencil-based printmaking technique. This produces images with an intensity of colour and distinct shapes. Images are figurative in subject matter with abstract qualities in mark making and texture. I work from sketch book studies and direct observation.

Residencies involving drawing and printmaking include the following placements: Artist in Residence Chester Zoo (1999-2001)
Artist in Residence Plas Newydd, Llangollen (Ladies of Llangollen) May 2008
Artist in Residence South Africa (documenting a charity trip) April 2008
Artist in Residence Wepre Park, Connah’s Quay (April-July 2010)

Observational Drawing
An Arts Council of Wales Lottery Project Grant (2006) enabled me to study the lifecycle of The Silkworm (Spinning a Yarn) through observational drawing (20 drawings produced for touring exhibition)

I make regular drawing entries in an ongoing Visual Diary and in sketchbooks (pen/watercolour, gouache)
