Award-winning novelist Owen Martell and photographer Simon Proffitt have launched their book, Dolenni Hud, (Gwasg Gomer) a collection of prose and photographs set in ‘Welsh’ towns in the United States. Inspired by familiar placenames - Cardiff, Bangor, Neath - dressed in unfamiliar colours, the book is a subtle and intriguing exploration of belonging; ‘spectral loops’ of character, geography and identity.
This bilingual evening comprised of readings from the book, informal discussion and a presentation of ‘Parallel Wales’, an associated audiovisual installation commissioned by and recently presented at The LAB gallery in San Francisco.
